610 TNI-Police Officers Prepared to Support New Normal Life in North Jakarta

As many as 610 joint personnel from TNI and Police were prepared to support government in disciplining residents in the transition period ahead of New Normal in North Jakarta.

TNI/Police will be involved to discipline residents

It was agreed in a preparatory discussion meeting towards a new normal as an effort to accelerate COVID-19 handling which carried out by North Jakarta City Leadership Coordination Forum (FORKOPIMKO) on last Friday (5/29).

North Jakarta Mayor, Sigit Wijatmoko stated, technically TNI and Police have stated that their sides will deal with violators in polite manners and prioritize a persuasive efforts.

He ensured that local government sides, from Transportation Sub-agency, Satpol PP, and related units to participate actively in imposing sanctions on violators.

"We hope residents can understand and support North Jakarta to be free from COVID-19," he asserted, Saturday (5/30).

According to him, North Jakarta FORKOPIMKO has agreed to enforce the health protocols regulations in several areas such as public transport, traditional market, and mall when the New Normal Life is applied.

"TNI/Police will be involved to discipline residents, especially in public transport, traditional market, and modern shopping centers," he said.

In order to discipline residents during the New Normal, his side will focus on monitoring at least 8 public transport facilities, 19 traditional markets, and 16 malls in North Jakarta.

"Sanction will be imposed in stages, starting from warning, social sanctions, to legal sanctions if it contains of criminal element," he stated.
