Anies Performs First Friday Prayers with Health Protocols

Alhamdulillah, this afternoon we just finished performing Friday prayers

Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan, performed the first Friday prayers with health protocols and particular arrangements in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19 during the Phase I PSBB Transition at Fatahillah Mosque, City Hall, Friday (6/5). He was seen carrying his own prayer mat as he headed for the mosque and kept the distance between pilgrims.

"Alhamdulillah, this afternoon we just finished performing Friday prayers. This is our extraordinary longing to return to Friday prayers in the City Hall area, as is also felt by millions of Muslims in Jakarta," he expressed, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release, Friday (6/5).

Anies Extends Jakarta PSBB, June Becomes Transition Period

He stated citizens should stay at home during transition period if there is no urgent need. There were at least four main protocols that must be done when doing activities.

"They are only healthy people are allowed to do activities outside the home, always wear masks, maintain physical distancing up to 1.5 meters and avoid the crowd which is only 50 percent in a room. If you are disciplined, we can be safe from the virus," he explained.

He explained if there is an alarming level of transmission, all activities could be stopped and supervision would be re-implemented tightly.

"So let us all join in monitoring and reprimanding if you find irregularities or report to the officer. We will process it in accordance with applicable regulations, we also do not hesitate to revoke permits and close down the places that commit violations during this transition period," he closed.
