Harapan Island, North Thousand Islands is still closed temporarily for tourists who are going on vacation on the weekend later.
According to Adi Apandi, Head of Harapan Island Urban Village, it was an agreed decision in a meeting with residents, travel owners, homestay owners, Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis), Puskesmas and safe island task force, Tuesday (6/9) evening.

Aside that, they are also not ready to implement the health protocol so they are worried that COVID-19 will be spread. Moreover, many elderly people on Harapan Island are still prone to this disease.
"For those who will open up tourism businesses, integrity pacts are prepared in accordance with the attachment to the Tourism Agency's decree. Thus they are truly responsible for following health protocols properly," he explained.
Nevertheless, he and tourism business actors have yet to confirm when they can start opening tourist visits. Thus they decided to continuously supervise and control the region, especially at the entrances of Harapan Island.
"We will wait until the conditions are completely safe from COVID-19 thus we can still maintain the green zone," he stated.
