Fire Burned Park on Jalan Benyamin Sueb

Fire burned a park in the green belt located on Jalan Benyamin Sueb, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (10/8) noon. As a result, the surrounding area becomes filled with thick smoke that disturbs motorists.

It seemed there was someone threw a cigarette while passing through (the park). Heat like this makes the fire quickly enlarged. This is very disturbing passing motorists

Amir (56), a motorcycle-taxi driver near the scene, told the smoke originated from the burned grass and trees in the park. And due to hot weather and many dried plants, the fire quickly spread along the park.

“It seemed there was someone threw a cigarette while passing through (the park). Heat like this makes the fire quickly enlarged. This is very disturbing passing motorists,” he said.

Indeed, some passing motorists were affected by the fire. They had to slow down their vehicles to prevent accident.

“The smoke makes my eyes sore. I’m afraid it would trigger accident,” expressed Bagus (24), a motorcyclist.

Responding on this matter, Head of Operational Section for Central Jakarta Fire and Disaster Handling Sub-Department, Sudarno, stated that his party will immediately follow up the incident.

“We’ll follow it up immediately and check to the location,” he replied through cell phone connection.
