Car Free Day to Hit Streets in East Jakarta This Coming Sunday

The East Jakarta administration is about to hold the Car Free Day on the coming Sunday (6/28) for exercise only. It will be started at 6 AM to 9 AM.

To avoid the crowd, residents are only allowed to do independent sports like jogging and cycling

In the weekly event, every visitor must comply with the COVID-19 preventive health protocols such as, wearing masks, maintaining physical distancing, carrying hand sanitizers and washing hands frequently.

East Jakarta Economic and Development Assistant Kusmanto said a number of streets that will be prepared for the event are Jalan Pemuda, inspection road of Kanal Banjir Timur (KBT), Jalan Radin Inten Duren Sawit, Jalan RA Fadilah Cijantung and Jalan Bina Marga Cipayung.

"To avoid the crowd, residents are only allowed to do independent sports like jogging and cycling, with street vendors prohibited from operating," he asserted, Friday (7/26).

Thus far his party has coordinated with army/police and other related units to apply traffic engineering.

"Surely we also already have alternative lanes to anticipate traffic jam," he stressed.
