KPKP Starts to Check Condition of Sacrificial Animals in East Jakarta

East Jakarta Maritime, Agriculture, and Food Security (KPKP) Sub-agency starts to deploy its personnel to check the condition of sacrificial animals (qurban) for Eid al-Adha.

East Jakarta KPKP Sub-agency's Animal Husbandry and Animal Health  Section Head, Irma Budiany stated, her personnel checked 142 sacrificial animals in animals shelters on Jl. Dukuh V, Dukuh Urban Village, Kramat Jati. On the location, her side found one disabled animal and told the seller not to sell it.

"We check conditions of animals teeth, horn, nose, and other parts. We also take the blood samples to know whether the animals exposed to anthrax or not and check animal health certificate (SKKH) from the area of origin," she mentioned, Wednesday (7/8).

After checking the animals, her side puts sticker on animal shelter that has been checked. There are 103 sheep on the location that have been declared healthy.

One of the sacrificial animal merchants, Bagus Riznulhakim conveyed, all the cattle and sheep are shipped from Bali and Bandung, West Java. His side considered cattle from Bali has better meat quality than cattle from other regions. The price is also quite affordable with an average weight about 600 kilograms.

"We bring cattle from Bali because the price is quite affordable but the meat quality is very good," said Bagus who claimed to have been selling sacrificial animals for the past five years on the location.

For cattle, he sold with price range of Rp 12-36 million per head. Whereas sheep are sold in the range of Rp 2-8 million per head.
