Plastic Waste Processing Training Enlivens Pasar Ikan Explorer 2020 Event

If it is taken seriously, the results of this craft can be a product that helps the family economy

The Pasar Ikan Explorer 2020 event opened training in processing single-use plastic bag waste into various handicraft products that was held since Wednesday (7/8) until Thursday (7/9).

It was participated by 15 mothers of Aquarium Village, Penjaringan, North Jakarta and 10 cadres of Jakarta Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP).

Maritime Museum Management Unit Head Berkah Shadaya explained the handling of plastic waste in Penjaringan Sub-district area is a latent problem that still needs a solution.

As a downstream area from a number of rivers, he explained, plastic waste was often seen from upstream or swept away by the ocean waves on the waterfront.

"During the training, we try to empower mothers to use the waste that is often found around their environment into an economical product," he stated, Thursday (7/9).

He explained that the expertise in processing plastic bags into valuable products such as bags, coasters and containers where ornaments could be an economic opportunity to increase the family.

Besides mothers and cadres, similar training was also held for 25 mothers of Lions Club MOVAST.

"If it is taken seriously, the results of this craft can be a product that helps the family economy," he uttered.
