LED Replacement Applied in 8 Sub-districts of C. Jakarta

To save energy without reducing the quality of light, Central Jakarta Industry and Energy Sub-Department will replace 2,196 street lights spread in eight sub-districts with Light Emitting Diode (LED) lamps.

But, LED lamp endurance can stay for 10 years, the usual one just stay for 3 years

The 2,196 street lights are located in Senen Sub-District (274 street lights), Tanah Abang Sub-District (237 street lights), Johar Baru Sub-District (212 street lights), Kemayoran Sub-District (288 street lights), Menteng Sub-District (235 street lights), Sawah Besar Sub-Disitrict (354 street lights), Cempaka Putih Sub-District (318 street lights) and Gambir Sub-District (278 street lights).

Head of Central Jakarta Industry and Energy Sub-Department, Iswandi said for the initial phase, 87 LED lamps have been installed in Johar Baru Sub-District and 18 lamps on Jalan Wahid Hasyim, Tanah Abang.

He said especially for Jalan Wahid Hasyim, his side is still conducting a trial using remote technology to turn on and off lamps by using a smartphone. Certainly, it uses an application via internet connection.

Iswandi explained, even the using of LED lamp more efficient, but the investment amount is bigger. According to him, the PJU lamp that is used now about Rp 4 million, then LED lamp about Rp 8 million.

"But, LED lamp endurance can stay for 10 years, the usual one just stay for 3 years. Besides that, we no need to doing a treatment because the guarantee is given from the factory," he explained.

Iswandi added, the LED lamp is installed along the citizen settlement, because if it installed on the road, will disturb the driver vision because of the white light of the LED.

Iswandi also appealed, if there is broken PJU lamp please report to Central Jakarta PJU post. "For every citizen that see the PJU lamp die out or broken, can directly call 021-2314444," he uttered.
