Latest COVID-19 Information in Jakarta as of July 30, 2020

Jakarta Government intensifies holding PCR test massively to find new cases quickly. This way, the task force can take an immediate act regarding isolation or treatment measures in order to reduce the potential for COVID-19 transmission.

As many as 5,573 specimens are tested to diagnose new cases with total of 299 positive results and 5,274 negative results

Jakarta Health Agency Public Health Division Head, Fify Mulyani stated, based on the latest data from Jakarta Health Agency, PCR test has been carried out for 6,874 specimens.

"As many as 5,573 specimens are tested to diagnose new cases with total of 299 positive results and 5,274 negative results. In this past week, there are 43,416 people who have been tested. While 36,951 PCR tests are carried out per 1 million population," she explained as quoted from Jakarta PPID Press Release, on Thursday (7/30).

For information, WHO had set the standard number of PCR test of 1,000 people per 1 million population per week. Based on WHO, Jakarta must conduct a minimum PCR test on 10,645 people (not specimens) per week or 1,521 people per day.

"In Jakarta, PCR tests have been carried out 4 times more than WHO standard," she added.

Outbreak condition in an area can be known through testing. The test-trace-isolation strategy is very important to overcome the outbreak. If number of test done doesn't meet WHO standards, it can lead to more positive cases that are not tracked. Jakarta has met this standards, even exceeding them.

PCR test in Jakarta was carried out through collaboration with 47 Local Government Laboratories, Central Government, BUMN, and private sector. Jakarta Government provides test funding support to BUMN and private laboratories that participate in sample testing program.

Meanwhile, there are 299 additional positive cases in Jakarta. In total, there are 7,147 positive cases (including people who are still being treated/isolated). While 20,769 confirmed cases as of today, where 12,801 people recovered and 821 people died.

The positivity rate of positive cases in the past week in Jakarta reached 6.5%, while in Indonesia it reached 13.6%. WHO also set standard positive cases rate is no more than 5%. However, this positive cases rate can be only considered valid if the standard number of test conducted has been met. If it only runs small number of test (not meet WHO standards) then the positive cases rate is doubtful.

As long as the vaccine is not yet available, outbreak transmission should be prevented together with discipline in implementing social restrictions and health protocols. Always remember to pay attention and implement these principles in daily activities:

•Stay at home and don't go outside if not urgent

•Implement 3M: wear mask properly, maintain safe distance of 1.5-2 meters, and wash your hands with soap and running water regularly

•All activities that are permitted to operate should limit capacity by maximum 50% and comply with strict health protocols

•Remind the others to always implement health protocols

Jakarta Provincial Government is still opening opportunity for residents who want to provide assistance to the others who affected by COVID-19 through Large-scale Social Collaboration (KSBB) Program.

Residents can provide assistance in form of staple food, ready meals, or funds. Detailed information regarding KSBB can be accessed via site https://corona.jakarta.go.id/kolaborasi.
