Odd-Even Traffic Policy will Be Reenacted Starting August 3

Jakarta Government will reenact odd-even traffic policy in 25 roads starting Monday, August 3, 2020. It will be applied at 6 AM-10 AM and 4 PM-9 PM.

Jakarta Transportation Agency Head, Syafrin Liputo conveyed, odd-even traffic policy applies to four-wheeled motor vehicles, except for 13 types of motor vehicles including motorcycles are excluded. This policy don't apply on Saturdays, Sundays, and national holidays determined by Presidential Decree.
"Odd-even violators will be given maximum two months imprisonment or maximum fine Rp 500,000 according to UU No. 22/2009 concerning Traffic and Road Transportation," he said on Friday (7/31).
City to Tighten Health Protocols Implementation in Market and KRLAccording to him there is an increase in traffic volume at several monitoring points during the Transitional Large-scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) period where it is approaching normal traffic volume (compared to the traffic condition in February 2020).
"Traffic volume in several monitoring points even have exceeded the normal condition by 1.47 percent," he stated.
According to him, there is an increase in traffic volume around odd-even traffic area because public are still worried to use public transport due to the potential of COVID-19 transmission.
"Re-enacted odd-even traffic policy is needed to reduce traffic density and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of road utilization to prioritize transport management in Jakarta," he added.
Public transport should also limits its capacity to maintain health protocols implementation, especially physical distancing, in order to avoid COVID-19 transmission.
"Based on the existing data, number of public transport passengers during Transitional PSBB period is increasing by approximately 19.86 percent compared to PSBB period," he stated.
