Fire Destroys Grocery Store, Killed One

An grocery store belongs to Mr. Marzuki located at Jalan Terogong Raya No. 1 B, RT 01/06, precisely near Jakarta International School (JIS) was caught by fire on Tuesday (10/1), at around 5 AM. The incident led to one store worker died. 

When fire happened, there were 6 workers in the store. They are identified as Latif, Lukman Hakim, Nurani, Oni Syahrani, Asep, and Rachmawati. At that time, they were sleeping.

Fire Burnt 30 Semi-Permanent Houses

"Around 5 AM, they immediately woke up. Fire quickly enlarged accompanied with thick smoke thus they had shortness of breath," said Chief o Cilandak Sector Police, Comr. Pol. Sungkono, Tuesday (10/14).

The store workers were trying to save their life through the front door. Unfortunately, Latif (25) died due to he has no time to escape.

"Fire kills one worker because of he experiences shortness of breath and late to escape. Thus far, dead victim and 5 injured victims have been rushed to the Fatmawati Hospital for intensive treatment," he reported.

As many as seven fire trucks of South Jakarta Fire and Disaster Handling Sub-Department deployed to the scene and its fire managed to be extinguished around 6 AM.

"Until now, we're still doing investigation and waiting for the witness recovered to find out the cause of the fire. The material loss reaches hundreds of millions rupiah," he finished.
