West Jakarta Sudin Pusip Inaugurates Betawi Homepage

Jakarta Library and Archives Agency (Dispusip) Head Wahyu Haryadi has inaugurated the Betawi Homepage at the West Jakarta Sudin Pusib Office on Jalan Tanjung Duren Barat, Duri Kepa, Kebon Jeruk, West Jakarta.

Hopefully it can add to the literacy of Betawi culture in West Jakarta

According to him, its existence was specially to display the collection and characteristics of Betawi culture in each region of Jakarta.

"Hopefully it can add to the literacy of Betawi culture in West Jakarta, especially in collecting special characteristics about fruits, food and drinks, or literary collections," he expressed, Tuesday (8/4).

West Jakarta Sudin Pusib Head Ahmad Yani expressed it was complemented by books about Betawi, ranging from culinary, figures, cultural figures, etc. The sub-agency would also develop it as a center for the development of Betawi literacy such as Betawi storytelling and other competitions.

Then, it would become a gathering point for the Betawi community, so they can get input, suggestions to develop Betawi cultural literacy. Thus far there had been 64 books and would continue to be completed.

"Our hope is to become a storefront about Betawi culture, a gathering point for the Betawi community, as well as to complete digital book collections and to meet the expectations of millennials," he hoped.
