Jakarta's Latest Official COVID-19 Cases as of August 9

The Jakarta COVID-19 Quick Handling Task Force announces the latest information of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases as of August 9.

Currently the number swab tests each week reaches fourfold of the WHO standard

According to Weningtyas Purnomorini, Division Head of Health Services for Jakarta Health Agency, based on the latest information, as many as 4,827 specimens had undergone COVID-19 swab tests.

"As many as 4,827 tests are done to confirm the diagnosis in new cases where 472 were positive and 3,630 are negative. Of 472 positive cases, 88 out fo them are the accumulation of data from the previous day that has just been reported. From per one million populations, we have checked 43,123 people. In the past week, 45,620 have undergone tests," he expressed, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release, Sunday (8/9).

She explained, according to the Wealth Health Organization (WHO), as many as 1,000 people per one million populations per week had passed swab tests. Jakarta should conduct it at least 10,645 people (instead of specimen) per week or 1,521 people per day.

"Currently the number swab tests each week reaches fourfold of the WHO standard," he told.

The disease condition in an area can only be known through testing. Therefore, a test-trace-isolation strategy is very important in handling it. The number of tests that do not meet WHO standards results in more positive cases that are not traced. Jakarta has met these standards, even exceeded them.

Its test is done through collaboration of 54 local government laboratories, central government, BUMNs and private sectors. The city gives support for test fees to BUMN and private laboratories that participate in networking together in examining sample programs.

In the meantime, there were additional positive cases reaching 472. The number of active cases in Jakarta is currently 8,507 cases (people who are still being treated/isolated).

As for the total number of confirmed cases in Jakarta today is 25,714 cases, with details 16.268 were declared cured and 939 died.

The positivity rate in the last week in Jakarta was 7.4%, while Indonesia was 15.5%. WHO also set a standard percentage of positive cases of no more than 5%. However, if the standard number of tests carried out has been met, this percentage of positive cases can be valid. If not, the percentage of positive cases indicator is doubtful.

As long as the vaccine is not yet available, outbreak transmission must be prevented together with the discipline of enforcing physical distancing and health protocols. So residents must pay attention and implement these principles in their daily activities, which is to stay home and not go out when there is no urgent need, as well as always implement 3M stands for Mencuci tangan (washing hands), Memakai masker (wearing masks) and Menjaga jarak (keeping a distance).

Then all activities that are permitted to operate must be in a maximum capacity of 50% and adhere to strict health protocols, as well as must remind each other to always implement health protocols.

Even the community also has the opportunity to donate with others in the large-scale social collaboration (KSBB) program. They can provide aid in the form of staple foods, fast food and cash. For further information, please visit corona.jakarta.go.id/kolaborasi.
