Jakarta's Latest Official COVID-19 Cases as of August 2

The Jakarta COVID-19 Quick Handling Task Force announces the latest information of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases as of August 2.

Currently the number swab tests each week reaches fourfold of the WHO standard

According to Fify Mulyani, Division Head of Public Health for Jakarta Health Agency, based on the latest data, the swab tests had been carried out on 4,891 specimens

"3,888 out of 4,891 specimens are to diagnose new cases with 379 positive and 3,509 negative results. From 379 cases, there were 50 cases from the previous day. The number of people tested last week reached 37,935, while 38,294 people have undergone the swab tests," she explained.

Latest COVID-19 Information in Jakarta as of July 30, 2020

She explained, the World Health Organization (WHO) had set the standard number of swab tests to 1,000 people per 1 million populations per week. Based on the WHO standard, Jakarta should do it on 10,645 people (not specimen) per week or 1,521 people per day.

"Currently the number swab tests each week reaches fourfold of the WHO standard," she added.

Outbreak conditions in an area can only be known through testing. The tracer-isolation test strategy is very important when dealing with outbreaks. The number of tests that do not meet WHO standards results in more positive cases is being untracked. Jakarta has met these standards, even exceeding them.

Its test is done through collaboration of 47 local government laboratories, central government, BUMNs and private sectors. The city gives support for test fees to BUMN and private laboratories that participate in networking together in examining sample programs.

In the meantime, COVID-19 positive cases increased to 379 cases. Around 7,075 are undergoing self-isolation at home (including data of athlete's homestead). As for the total number of confirmed cases in Jakarta today is 21,954 cases, with details 14.027 were declared cured and 852 died.

The positivity rate in the last week in Jakarta was 7.1%, while Indonesia was 14.8%. WHO also set a standard percentage of positive cases of no more than 5%. However, if the standard number of tests carried out has been met, this percentage of positive cases can be valid. If not, the percentage of positive cases indicator is doubtful.

As long as the vaccine is not yet available, outbreak transmission must be prevented together with the discipline of enforcing physical distancing and health protocols. So residents must pay attention and implement these principles in their daily activities, which is to stay home and not go out when there is no urgent need, as well as always implement 3M stands for Mencuci tangan (washing hands), Memakai masker (wearing masks) and Menjaga jarak (keeping a distance).

Then all activities that are permitted to operate must be in a maximum capacity of 50% and adhere to strict health protocols, as well as must remind each other to always implement health protocols.

Even the community also has the opportunity to donate with others in the large-scale social collaboration (KSBB) program. They can provide aid in the form of staple foods, fast food and cash. For further information, please visit corona.jakarta.go.id/kolaborasi.
