The Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economic (Parekraf) Agency is collaborating with the World Flower Council Indonesia (WFCI) to promote the richness of flora, especially the flower variants in Indonesia.

Its promotion is packaged in the form of a creative video documentary of an event entitled 'Semarak Bunga Untuk Indonesia', which was held on Sunday (8/23) in commemoration of the Independence Day's 75th Anniversary.

Jakarta Parekraf Agency's Creative Economic Division Head Helma Dahlia said Semarak Bunga Untuk Indonesia was filled with 10 delmans (horse-drawn buggies) decorated with flower arrangements and decorations representing Indonesian and Jakarta culture.

The cultural representations in those delmans included the flag and the Garuda Bird as the symbol of the Republic of Indonesia. There were also Wayang, Batik and Bakul Jamu as a representation of Indonesia.

Aside that, Tumpeng (rice cone) was a representation of gratitude for the Independence Day, Monas, Betawi House, Ondel-ondel, which were identical or become the hallmark of Jakarta.

"This video will show the richness of Indonesian flora in the world, especially WFC representatives in 52 countries. We want to show a simple delman culture decorated with flowers while encouraging the entire creative flower sector amid the pandemic," she explained, Tuesday (8/25).

She added that creative video making was also conducted by implementing the health protocol.

WFCI Chairperson Maya Solihin uttered she chose to hold celebration in Jakarta, as it was a city that is in the spotlight of the whole world. Moreover, President Soekarno declared the independence of the Republic of Indonesia in this city.

Entering a new era of normality, she added, flowers as a symbol of hope could become a new spirit and energy to fight this pandemic.

"Indonesia is a country known for its flora diversity due to its tropical climate. We want to give enthusiasm and hope to the Indonesian people thus they can get out of this pandemic," she stated.
