Jakarta Provincial Government asked the Indonesian Forum for the Environment (Walhi) to give such solution related to Giant Sea Wall (GSW) construction in the Jakarta North Beach.

"Walhi, please give us solution, not just negative argument. Debate is useless," said Jakarta Vice Governor, Basuki T. Purnama, Thursday (10/9). Basuki statement was given to respond Walhi's critic related to GSW.

Basuki explained that his side is still doing a study for this project. "The first is National Capital Integrated Coastal Development (NCICD) of embankment," Basuki added.

The construction of reclamation in the Jakarta North Beach will not decrease the public beach. Moreover, Jakarta Provincial Government will get 5 percent from the reclamation island by the developer. "How it can decrease the beach, and how to use the beach. Jakarta never have a beach," Basuki continued.

Basuki asked to all party to count the benefits and disadvantages if the GWS is realized. "If we do nothing for Jakarta, will this city get drown? Or you have another solution?" Basuki uttered.

The vice governor also guarantees that the project will be free of corruption. "Please check my property, my lifestyle, and how much tax I have paid. Avoid negative thinking too much," Basuki said.
