City Grants Scholarships to Children of Health Workers Who Die of COVID-19

On behalf of the city government and the people of Jakarta, we would like to express our deepest condolences

The Jakarta Provincial Government is committed to provide scholarship to children of health workers who have died in handling COVID-19.

Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said that it is a form of appreciation for the medical heroes who died during the pandemic. It was officially stated at Jakarta City Hall on Thursday (8/27) morning.

Part of Incentive Funds for Health Workers will Be Disbursed Next Week

"On behalf of the city government and the people of Jakarta, we would like to express our deepest condolences. They are individuals who work closely with the COVID-19 case. We pray together, InsyaAllah, they will be martyred and exalted in the sight of God," he expressed, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release.

The distribution of this scholarship would be processed on a non-cash basis with a transfer mechanism through a Bank DKI account in the name of the recipient. It was compliance with Governor's Decree number 739/2020 saying as many as 12 people at the beginning of the academic year with PAUD (1 person), elementary school/SD (2 persons), junior high school/SMP (1 person), senior high school/SMA (4 persons) and university (4 persons).

Here are details of the scholarships given per level:

- PAUD: Rp 6,000,000/year

- SD: Rp 9,000,000/year

- SMP: Rp 12,000,000/year

- SMA: Rp 15,000.0000/year

- University: Rp 20,000,000/year

"Their education mustn't stop to achieve their goals and achieve a bright future as expected by their parents. We'll cover them and hopefully it can run well," he disclosed.

The scholarship granting policy would be disbursed immediately every year. In this occasion, he also conveyed a message to the children who were present to stay enthusiastic in learning and be active in activities in class and outside the classroom.

He hoped that they could become individuals who are successful beyond their goals and was proud of their families, Jakarta and Indonesia.

"And surely for all of us. Let's solidify ourselves that this is a unity. Our brothers and sisters who are working in places most at risk must be fully supported personally and by their families. So let's take care them together, thus all can return to their homes safely and continue to work to save our brothers and sisters," he closed.
