Ek, Civil Servant Arrested for Putaw Possession

Ek has not had time to use putaw, but we found one package. Currently both suspects are still undergoing questioning

Ek (53), a civil servant of East Jakarta Population and Civil Registration Sub-Department was arrested by Kemayoran Police officers when he and his friend, Ag (41) used putaw (low-grade heroine) at Gg Lancar, Jalan Sumur Batu, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday (10/14) yesterday.

The arresting began after police did an investigation at fire location and not accidentaly saw Ag tried to use putaw. Police then did further investigation and found EK was at home. From EK and Ag, one package of putaw and syringe were found.

"Ek has not had time to use putaw, but we found one package. Currently both suspects are still undergoing questioning. Ek is identified as a civil servant of East Jakarta Population and Civil Registration Sub-Department and Ag is only an ordinary employee," stated Chief of Kemayoran Police, Sr. Comr. Suyud, Thursday (10/16).

According to Ek's statement, he had once used the putaw. However, police did not believe him because of many scar injections in his body and hands

"This is my first time using the putaw," denied Ek.

The suspects will be charged under Article 112(1) junto Article 132 No.35/2009 on Narcotics with imprisonment penalty for 4-12 years.
