The Thousand Islands Water Resources (SDA) is repairing a damaged levee retaining gabions, locally known as bronjong in RT 01/01 on the south coast of Lancang Island, South Thousand Islands.
According to Abdul Rauf, Sub-agency Head of Thousand Islands SDA, the gabion condition was fragile already and caused the rock structure collapsed.
75 Gabions Installed on Lancang Island to Hold Waves"This repair has touched 70 percent from the length of the gabions on the south side of the coast of Lancang Island," he expressed, Tuesday (9/8).
He explained it was conducted up to 75 meters with a wire width of 1.3 meters and a gabion height of up to 60 centimeters.
"To do it, we have sent eight officers since August 28. It is targeted to be complete on September 15," he stated.
