Two Urban Villages in Cempaka Putih are Prioritized for Flood Mitigation

It aims to accommodate water in large quantities

Cempaka Putih Barat and Timur sub-districts, Cempaka Putih District, Central Jakarta are included in the priority of handling flood and inundation anticipation.

Cempaka Putih Sub-district Head Andri Fedrian said Cempaka Putih Barat is located in residential areas of RW 08 and 12. While Cempaka Putih Timur is on Jalan Ahmad Yani and Suprapto or the left side of the Coca Cola intersection and residential areas of RW 06, 07 and 08.

Currently his side and related units were coordinating for the construction of a retention pond measuring 8x70 meters on Jalan Cempaka Putih Barat XIV as an effort to overcome inundation.

"This project has been socialized to local residents," he expressed, Thursday (10/22).

He went on to say that the Central Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency had done mud dredging in the drains in RW 08 and 12, including in Utan Kayu River.

"It aims to accommodate water in large quantities," he expressed.

As for the flood and inundation handling on Jalan Ahmad Yani and Suprapto, a connecting channel crossing would be made to the pond in Cempaka Mas.

"The pond will also be widened in order to optimally accommodate water before it is distributed to Item Kemayoran River," he stated.
