4 Transportation Dept Employees Named as Suspects

Four Jakarta Transportation Department employees were named as suspects by the Attorney General’s Office over alleged corruption act in Catamaran Speedboat procurement. In addition, the Attorney General’s Office also seized one speedboat which procured in 2012 budget year.

The case is currently under investigation by the Attorney General’s Office. This matter has been reported to Acting Jakarta Governor Basuki T Purnama

Head of Jakarta Transportation Department, Muhammad Akbar, disclosed that the initials of the four suspects are DA, KZ, BU, and THZ. Besides that, a contractor initialed ABS was also named as a suspect in this case.

“The case is currently under investigation by the Attorney General’s Office. This matter has been reported to Acting Jakarta Governor Basuki T Purnama,” stated Akbar, at City Hall, Monday (10/27).

Transportation Dept’s Speedboat Sealed Over Corruption Case

According to Akbar, the budget ceiling for Catamaran Speedboat procurement was Rp 25 billion, while the contract was only worth Rp 23.6 billion.

“The boat’s specification is indeed big, reaching 26 meters long and 9 meters wide. It is made from aluminum,” he told.

Because of this case, Akbar stressed his ranks to be cautious and always obey the rules in order to avoid similar case in the future.

“I want all (Jakarta Transportation Department) employees to obey the rules. Every contract that has been made should be re-studied, thus unwanted things can be prevented,” he asserted.

For information, this case broke out from the discrepancy boat provided through the agreement contract. The contract mentions that the boat has a speed of 150 knots. But after been tested, the speed was not in accordance with the contract.
