Transportation Dept’s Speedboat Sealed Over Corruption Case

Jakarta Criminal Corruption Court (Tipikor) investigators team on Thursday (10/15) sealed a Catamaran speedboat belongs to Jakarta Transportation Department which alleged as evidence over corruption procurement of goods by Jakarta Transportation Department.

For information, the speedboat procurement was included in the 2012-2013 budget worth Rp 23.65 billion with goods supplier PT SMS in Tegal, Central Java. Now, four people initialed DA, KZ, and TH from Jakarta Transportation Department, as well as ABS from goods supplier, are named as suspects.
Jakarta Corruption Court Prosecutor, Sarjono Turin, disclosed that before sealing the speedboat, his party had done checking on the boat’s license, construction, and engine. From the checking, the boat is known not correspond with the contract specifications.

Meanwhile, Attorney General’s Office shipping expert from Pattimura University, Richard Luhulima, told that he had checked the speedboat twice and admitted that it does not correspond with the specifications in the contract.
According to him, in the first test, the boat’s speed was only 12.5 knots at 1,400 RPM, which is far from the specifications that should reach 25 knots at 1,600 RPM. After its propeller replaced, there was an increase in speed, but still far from the standard which should be 12.9 knots at 1,400 RPM.
“Perhaps the boat’s engine is the same with regular passenger boat, but it is categorized as speedboat. It could be assumed there was change in its specification,” he uttered.
