In order to adapt to the latest technological development, Jakartans will be prepared to switch into a more advanced technology.
Analog technology is no longer able to keep up with the demands in broadcasting industry
For this reason, Jakarta Government appreciated Focus Group Discussion (FGD) which held by Jakarta Regional Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPID) with theme 'Preparing Jakarta Communities to Face Analog Switch Off (ASO) 2020' at Graha Mental Spiritual Building, Jl. Awaludin II No. 1, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday (11/25).
Jakarta Vice Governor, Ahmad Riza Patria (Ariza) opened this FGD activity. In his remarks, he conveyed that digitization in broadcasting becomes a solution in overcoming limitation and inefficiency of analog broadcasting.
KPID Monitors COVID-19 Health Protocols Implementation in Broadcasting Institutions"Analog technology is no longer able to keep up with the demands in broadcasting industry in terms of broadcast program distribution which continue to grow dynamically along the digitization era," he said as quoted from Jakarta PPID Press Release.
This condition, he assessed, was caused by the limitation number of available frequency channels, thus diversity of broadcast quality hasn't been achieved in optimal way. According to him, analogue broadcasting infrastructure is inefficient because it hasn't converged.
"Now, in digital era is inevitable, thus we must ready to face it. As conveyed by Communication and Information Minister, Johny G. Plate, the important reason for accelerating digitization in television is a part of national digitization priorities," he stated.
Besides, with the enactment of Job Creation Law, he considered, ASO can strengthen the constitutional legitimacy of analog television broadcasting, in order to transform into digital broadcasting system in accordance with the regulations. He hopes in the next two years, digital implementation can realize the mapping of Jakartans problems and readiness in facing ASO 2022 after the enactment of Law (UU) No. 11/2020 about Job Creation Law.
He also appreciated the readiness of multi-playing organizers and service zone 4 digital television broadcast organizers that covering Jakarta and Banten.
"Hopefully our positive goals can be fulfilled. Hopefully discussion can run smoothly and provide a broader knowledge of the importance of digitization, which provides opportunities for all parties to get more qualified information," he mentioned.
