1,135 People From 228 Locations Simultaneously Participate in Online Harvesting

Jakarta Maritime Agriculture and Food Security (KPKP) Agency collaborated with Communication Informatics and Statistics (Kominfotik) Agency to hold online harvest simultaneously, on Monday (11/30).

We guide them from cultivating the crops and processing the post-harvest crops, as well as marketing the agricultural products

The harvest was attended by 1,135 participants and took place in 228 urban farming locations throughout Jakarta, both in offices, RPTRAs, farmer groups, schools, and police offices.

Jakarta KPKP Acting Head (Plt), Suharini Eliawati estimated 63 tons crops were harvested in this event. In detail, there were 62.3 tons agricultural crops, 0.7 tons fishery commodities, and 130 livestock commodities.

She assessed, urban farming activities became popular among Jakarta residents and carried out by various groups, such as students, housewives, employees in government/private sectors, public figures, urban farmers, and others.

Therefore, Jakarta Government continued to support urban farming activities by providing face-to-face or online coaching such as webinars.

"We guide them from cultivating the crops and processing the post-harvest crops, as well as marketing the agricultural products," she mentioned.

She explained, this simultaneous harvest was expected to motivate the existing urban farmers and make more Jakarta residents to be interested in urban farming activities.

This activity aimed to make urban farming a part of activities of Jakarta city which is not only a healthy lifestyle but in the long term it would make Jakarta as food-resilient city.

"Where one of its indicators is the ability to provide its own food source," she added.

In this event, there was also cooperation agreement (PKS) signing between PT. Tani Hub with Karang Taruna 02 Kemang Farmer Group, Bangka Urban Village, Mampang Prapatan, South Jakarta.

Through this cooperation, PT. Tani Hub would assist urban farmers in Jakarta in marketing their products.

On this occasssion, the special edition Jakcard themed Urban Farming was given symbolically to urban farming activists in Jakarta. At the early stage, Bank DKI distributed special edition Jakcard to 160 people.
