Anies Figure Gains International Recognition

He (Anies) certainly can represent Indonesia and make Jakarta a barometer for other regions in Indonesia

Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan has just received a new mandate as a member of the C40 Cities Steering Committee (Deputy Chairman) with the Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike.

Jakarta Public Service (JPS) Executive Director Mohamad Syaiful Jihad assessed, this new position proved his progress was recognized internationally.

"He (Anies) certainly can represent Indonesia and make Jakarta a barometer for other regions in Indonesia," he expressed, Sunday (12/6).

He explained, he certainly should be able to carry out that belief well, especially by preparing innovations or new breakthroughs to optimize efforts to overcome climate change (climate change).

"I believe he was chosen, because of his capability and quality. Everything that has been done in Jakarta to tackle climate change is certainly part of the world's attention, especially the C40 members," he explained.

According to him, the governor had made measurable policies related to climate change, including issuing Gubernatorial Regulation number 66/2020 on Motor Vehicle Exhaust Emission Testing

"He also has issued Governor Instruction number 66 on Air Quality Control," he added.

He furthered the city administration was also continuing to encourage changes in people's behavior by turning to bikes as a means of transportation, including operation of electric buses as a means of public transportation that was soon realized after the trial phase.

"Then also to intensify urban farming to ask building owners in implementing the green building concept to overcome the greenhouse gas effect," he stated.
