KPKP Inspects Red Bird's Eye Chili Commodities in Traditional Markets

Jakarta Maritime Agriculture and Food Security (KPKP) Agency conducted food inspection and took samples of red bird's eye chili in several traditional markets in Jakarta.

Food inspection was carried out following the painted red bird's eye chili peppers cases which occurred in several regions of Indonesia.
Jakarta KPKP Agency Acting Head (Plt), Suharini Eliawati said, today's monitoring was focused on Tomang Barat Market, Ganefo Market, Laris Kosambi Market, Pos Pengumben Market, Kalideres Market, Klender Market, Cempaka Putih Market, Johar Baru Market, and Pasar Minggu Market.

"We pour the samples with thinner to prove whether it was painted or not. None of the samples' color is faded. It means it is the natural color of chilies," she explained, Monday (1/4).
Food inspection, she continued, was carried out as a quick response from KPKP Agency in ensuring safety of foods which consumed by Jakarta residents.
"In the future, we will continue to monitor the commodity routinely," she asserted.
Besides red bird's eye chili, her side also taken samples of seasoned chicken meat. She wanted to ensure the spices used are safe for consumption.
"If people have doubts about food they purchased, they can contact our officers in each sub-districts," she conveyed.
