City-owned PT MRT Jakarta aims to attract 65,000 passengers every day this year. Its number has increased by 138 percent when compared to the number of passengers last year which experienced a decrease in the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"The average number of daily passengers before the pandemic was stable, precisely at 88,000 in the first two months. But the number has decreased sharply starting last March, which reached 27,281 per day," expressed PT MRT Jakarta President Director, William Sabandar, Tuesday (1/5).

He said, the realization of last year's daily passengers was lower than the target set of 100,000 passengers per day. Even so, he was optimistic that the target could be achieved with the support of implementing strict health protocols and effective outreach to the public.

"It's very realistic to see the vaccine has arrived, then we always tighten the health protocol thus MRT Jakarta becomes a safe public transportation," he stated.
