Ahok Entrusts Police to Solve the Case of Collapsed Bridge at TIM

Acting Jakarta Governor Basuki ‘Ahok’ T Purnama assessed that the case of the collapsed connecting bridge of archives building at Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM), Cikini, Central Jakarta, is a criminal offense. Therefore, he handed over the case to the police to investigate and hunt the suspects.

This is criminal offense, the suspects must be found. Let the police handle it

“This is criminal offense, the suspects must be found. Let the police handle it,” he stated, Saturday (11/1).

According to Ahok, the project managed by the counterparty of Housing and Government’s Buildings Department is very reckless. Thus, Jakarta Provincial Government will conduct an evaluation to all counterparty and crossed out those that are not illegible from the auction list.

Connecting Bridge at TIM Collapsed, 4 Workers Died

“This was an auction process. The bad one should not become counterparty. Jakarta Housing and Government’s Buildings Department must be more careful in selecting counterparty,” he asserted.

Even so, Ahok admitted that it is not easy to dispel bad companies from getting involved in development projects. This is because the companies that won the auctions usually throw the projects to smaller companies.

“The winning bidder usually handed over the project to other company,” he said.

As previously reported, the connecting bridge collapsed yesterday at 6 AM and killed four workers. Until now, the cause is still unknown. Temporary allegation, the bridge collapsed because its buffer did not strong enough to hold the load of the building construction.
