Jakarta Government extended the Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) period until February 22, 2021. It was enacted through Gubernatorial Decree (Kepgub) No. 107/2021 regarding Extension of Duration and Limitation of Outdoor Activities.

This decision was also taken based on data compiled by Jakarta Health Agency where active cases spread in Jakarta in the last two weeks need to be minimized, especially ahead of Chinese New Year 2572 holiday.

It can be seen from recap of cases in the last two weeks, with 24,132 active cases from total 252,266 cases in Jakarta on January 25, 2021. While on February 7, 2021, there were 23,869 positive cases, thus total confirmed cases in Jakarta reached 293,825 cases. Number of patients died reached 4,587 people with death rate 1.6% while Indonesia's death rate was at 2.7%.
"But 265,369 patients have recovered with cure rate at 90.3%. It increased by 1.6% from two weeks ago where it was only 88.7% or 221,567 patients," said Widyastuti, Head of Jakarta Health Agency, as quoted from Jakarta PPID Press Release.
So far, 33% active positive cases in Jakarta are patients with moderate to critical symptoms who require hospitalization. While cases without symptoms and with mild symptoms carry out self-isolation in controlled isolation areas/Wisma Atlet/homes. The percentage of controlled isolation facilities in Jakarta reached 43%.
As of February 5, 2021, she informed, from 8,259 isolation beds which are available, the occupied percentage reached 72% or 5.921 beds. While from total 1,133 available ICU beds, the occupied percentage reached 74% or 842 beds.
As of 7 February, 2021, only 28% beds are available, where 5,932 of 8,275 isolation beds have been occupied, while ICU capacity was filled 74% where 838 of 1,130 ICU beds were used.
"Over the past two weeks, we have consistently succeeded in reducing bed occupancy rate where as of January 24, from 86% to 72% and for ICU capacity from 84% to 74%," she added.
However, Jakarta Government still has to work hard since family cluster continues to increase, where 612 of 1,643 positive cases are identified after Christmas and New Year (Nataru) holiday (based on data on January 3-31). Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan also reminded residents, especially those who celebrate Chinese New Year, that number of positive cases increases after long weekend. According to him, positive vases usually increased within 1-2 weeks afterwards.
"Next week, we have a long weekend due to Chinese New Year celebration. I urge people for not traveling out of town, refrain yourself from visiting crowded places, stay at home as much as possible if there is no essential needs. It is important to keep number of active cases from increasing," he asserted.
He mentioned, with comprehensive public participation, it is hoped it can increase public awareness to carry out 3M by wearing masks, washing hands, and maintaining safe distance, and refraining from doing mass activities outside.
"We all realize that our concern about this outbreak has not disappeared. To Jakarta residents, let's increase our vigilance and hope that the situation will be better soon. Remember our struggles, both in Jakarta and outside Jakarta, are still not over yet. Hopefully, our joint efforts can be realized by continuing to be disciplined in implementing health protocols," he stated.
