Preventing COVID-19 Spread, City Launches 3 Mobile Labs Through Collaboration with Human Initiative

Jakarta Government is committed to strengthen 3T capacity in providing Testing, Tracing, and Treatment to control COVID-19 spread. Besides, city also increase the testing and tracing capacity through Large-Scale Social Collaboration (KSBB) Platform.

Decision to make Mobile Lab was considered right, because Jakarta has committed to increase testing and tracing capacity

KSBB received positive responses from various parties, as indicated by increasing number of parties who are actively involve in this program, including to help increasing testing and tracing capacity. One of them is the Human Initiative, which collaborated with Nama Foundation and Ai Labs to make COVID-19 Mobile Polymerase Chain Reaction Test (PCR) Laboratory with Biosafety Level (BSL) 2.

"We are grateful that we can witness the handover of 3 Mobile Labs this afternoon that will be used to break the chain of COVID-19 transmission," stated Anies Baswedan, Jakarta Governor, in his remarks at Mobile Lab PCR COVID-19 BSL 2 Launching at City Hall, as quoted from Jakarta PPID Press Release, Thursday (1/28).

Here are Cilincing Health Center's Efforts in Handling COVID-19

He appreciated the parties involved in Mobile Lab PCR Test launching. This program has been going since the kick off in June 2020, meaning the hard work in realizing 3 units of Mobile Labs has been consistently carried out very well.

"The process is indeed long, I have repeatedly said that what we got today is actually an effort that was carried out long ago with a long process. So, let me express my gratitude and appreciation to the aggregators, Human Initiative, Nama Foundation, and Ai Labs that have been working on this for months," he conveyed.

Decision to make Mobile Lab was considered right, because Jakarta has committed to increase testing and tracing capacity in effective and efficient ways to curb COVID-19 spread.

"It is a great decision to create mobile labs. Because we want to break the chain of COVID-19 transmission by analyzing if they are infected and not, have close contact with suspect or have symptoms, and when we do it, we need high test capacity," he added.

Mobile Lab PCR Test COVID-19 BSL 2 is a mobile health laboratory equipped with Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and BSL-2 standard thus it can check whether someone has been infected with COVID-19 with an estimated time of 4 hours/patient's sample. The patient can know the result of examination no later than 1x24 hours.

The three mobile labs will analyze swab samples from RSUD Tanah Abang (public hospital), Tanah Abang Health Center (Puskesmas) and its surrounding area, RSUD Koja, Puskesmas Koja and its surrounding area, RSUD Budi Asih, Puskesmas Kramat Jati and its surrounding area, as well as providing swab sample examinations to follow up patient's treatment in those RSUDs and close contact tracing carried out by Puskesmas in local area.

Furthermore, this Mobile Lab will be very useful for other medical purposes, such as biological research, clinical testing, and even analyzing Hi-Risk virus epidemics such as A-H1N1 Swine Flu, H5N1 AVIAN Flu/Bird Flu, FMD, TB, Salmonella, and so on.
