TIM Bridge Contractor Urged to Provide Compensation

"We want to summon the BPAD, why workers in the project have not been registered to get BPJS," he expressed.
Separately, Head of Salemba BPJS Office, Muhammad Akip disclosed that based on the data, PT Sartoni Agung only did registration to 10 employees who worked in the administration division to BPJS program. While workers for TIM bridge project are unregistered.
"The contractor should cover all costs of compensation to the victims," he said.
He revealed, according to regulation, if there are any workers died in an accident case, the heirs will receive compensation 48 times salary. If it is calculated from the UMP of Rp 2.45 million, they must receive Rp 120 million.
"For workers with disabilities entitled to receive compensation about 56 times salary or Rp 134.4 million," he expressed.
He added if the contractor does not meet obligations to workers, they will be charged under which carries a maximum sentence of eight years in jail or pay fine Rp 1 billion.
"The provision was set up in several rules, such as Law No. 14/1993 on Jamsostek, Law No. 13/2003 on Employment and Law No. 24/2011 on BPJS," he uttered.
