Ahok: KIS and KIP Have Many Benefits

Acting Jakarta Governor Basuki ‘Ahok’ Tjahaja Purnama assessed that Indonesia Smart Card (KIP) and Indonesia Health Card (KIS) that launched by the central government have many benefits.

KIP and KIS have more benefits than the old ones. There is extra something

“Go ahead, distribute them. KIP and KIS have more benefits than the old ones. There is extra something. That’s why we’ll encourage KIP and KIS, so their benefits could be felt by the citizens. For those who received KIS but owned BPJS, we just need to revoke the BPJS,” he stated, Wednesday (11/5).

According to Basuki, the monitoring of KIP and KIS usage is also easier because both cards are planted with chips. Moreover, the data owned by Jakarta Provincial Government is very well linked to the cards’ recipients.

No KIP for KJP Recipients

“Now, nearly seven million people joined BPJS health in Jakarta. The target is that next year everyone in Jakarta should have insurance coverage. It doesn’t have to BPJS, can be private as well, and there is top up to raise,” he said.

Especially for KIS, Basuki disclosed that it eases civil servants and rich people. This is because they just need top up the card’s balance if the fund was not sufficient.

“Rich people or civil servants who want to raise to VIP class, can top up. But, the civil servants are still hampered by Home Affairs Minister Regulation. We are not allowed to pay top up according to the Act. We want to send a letter to the ministry. I also have asked Jakarta Health Department to set it to be allowed. It is a pity if our retirees went to 3rd grade. We want them to be allowed to top up higher,” he uttered.
