Jakarta Provincial Government stressed that Smart Indonesian Card (KIP) program initiated by the central government will not overlap with Jakarta Smart Card (KJP) program run by city government. Moreover, Jakarta students who were registered as KJP recipients will not receive KIP.
The students who have been registered as KJP recipients are not entitled to receive KIP
“The students who have been registered as KJP recipients are not entitled to receive KIP. Principally, KJP and KIP are the same, but KJP was issued first in Jakarta. That’s why we do not let the students to have double cards,” stated City Secretary Assistant for Public Welfare Division, Bambang Sugiono, Wednesday (11/5).
Hence, Sugiono admitted that he has instructed Head of Jakarta Education Department to coordinate with central government related to KIP distribution.
KJP and KIP Support Each Other“Besides, later KJP would be the same as scholarship that can be used by the students until they finish university. So, KJP is different with KIP. We’re also still budgeting KJP in the 2015 City Budget (APBD) in the amount of Rp 3 trillion,” he uttered.
As known, KIP program is intended for families that are underprivileged and prone to poverty, but want to send their children to school for free. KIP would also reach out the children who are out of school, such as street kids, orphans, and disabled.
For initial stage, KIP will be applied in 18 provinces, sub-districts, and cities with a target of 152,434 students in elementary, junior high, and senior high/vocational schools. The launching of KIP was conducted by President Joko Widodo on Monday (11/3) at Central Jakarta Pasar Baru Post Office, coincided with the launching of Health Indonesian Card (KIS).
