Meeting with Forkopimda, Anies Talks about Pandemic Management Strategy in Jakarta

Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan, attended a joint executive meeting together with the ranks of Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda), which was held at the Polda Metro Jaya Auditorium, on Thursday (2/18). On that occasion, he explained a number of strategies for overcoming COVID-19 in Jakarta.

It is a must, to sync and get support in the field

The governor said, the first thing was all parties should suppress the additional active cases, through strengthening 3T (testing, tracing, treatment) and 3M's massive campaign (wearing masks, washing hands with soap, maintaining physical distancing) that need support of various elements.

"It is a must, to sync and get support in the field. We had met with all resort police heads and the hope is that after this our policy, especially testing and tracing, can be helped and can be more effective," he explained, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release.

He also explained about vaccination, where the next target was non-medical elements, thus it required synchronization of various elements of society to succeed this vaccination program.

"Alhamdulillah, more than 1,400-1,500 people in Tanah Abang area have received vaccine. InsyaAllah, it will be intensified and expand its reach but surely it takes time. Hopefully the vaccine will arrive soon, thus can immediately be used," he explained.

In collaboration with various parties, including Forkompinda, he hoped, the pandemic in Jakarta would be more under control. By so, it would have an impact on the recovery of the people's economy.

"If it is done, the economy will gradually rise, as the cause of economic contraction is reduced interaction, decreased transaction activity. For increased interaction, residents must be healthy. Therefore, recovering economic conditions must begin with restoring health conditions thus people can interact and do transactions as usual," he uttered.
