PD. PAL Jaya will Install 2,000 Subsidized Septic Tanks This Year

Regional Wastewater Management Company (PD. PAL) Jaya will install 2,000 subsidized septic tanks this year. Jakarta Household Septic Tank Revitalization Subsidy Program is a part of Jakarta Government's Regional Strategic Activities (KSD).

Septic tank revitalization is an activity to provide household septic tanks with good quality, can be functioned properly, and meet the quality standards which are carried out in form of construction or installation.
PD. PAL Jaya Corporate Secretary, Mala S. Ramadhona mentioned, septic tank construction is targeted to be installed in 800 points until July. Next, 1,200 points until December 2021.

Septic tank revitalization for 2020 was 424 units from target 1,000 units. For septic tank construction that hasn't been realized last year will be diverted to complete target in 2021 which is 2,000 units.
"Household septic tanks revitalization budget in 2021 reaches Rp 21 billion. In each point, Rp 7 million is allocated for construction, then Rp 3.5 million for biopal septic tank for each point," she explained.
According to her, subsidy recipients will be charged for Domestic Wastewater installation fee of Rp 200,000 per person which registered in Integrated Data for Poor and Underprivileged People (DTFMOTM).
"For those who are not categorized as DTFMOTM will be charged Rp 350,000," she added.
She informed, PD. PAL Jaya collaborates with Jakarta Health Agency which supported by urban villages and sub-districts administrators in inventorying revitalization locations, including socializing residents who receive subsidies.
"We receive input and data from each regions by coordinating with health centers (puskesmas), sub-districts, urban villages, and RT/RW administrators. Then, we conduct based line survey according to the requirements or criteria based on Jakarta Gubernatorial Regulation (Pergub) No. 9/2020 concerning Household Septic Tanks Revitalization," she stated.
For information, people who receive subsidies for septic tank construction will be prioritized in locations that require immediate treatment as an effort to fulfill the right to proper sanitation for the community with the following criteria;
a. Do not have septic tank or open defecation (BABS)
b. Houses that have septic tank but not impermeable or leak
c. Houses in light and moderate slum areas
d. Houses which located in areas that hit by tidal flood
e. Houses in areas with high groundwater levels
f. Houses in areas with high level of coli bacteria contamination
g. Houses in areas prone to diarrhea
