21,730 Elderly Residents in East Jakarta Have Been Vaccinated

From Monday (3/1) to Tuesday (3/9), as many as 21,730 elderly residents in East Jakarta have been participated in dynamic vaccination program. It means achievement of this vaccination program has reached more than 9 percent of total target 225,950 elderly residents.

Vaccination for elderly with comorbidity should be postponed because it must be treated first

East Jakarta Health Sub-agency Head, Indra Setiawan stated, dynamic vaccination program for elderly will continue to be carried out every day in 10 sub-districts. It is not only held in health centers (puskesmas) but also through door-to-door method, where vaccination is held in schools located in residential areas and RW multipurpose fields. Thus elderly residents don't have to go far to health center to get dynamic vaccination service.

"21,730 elderly residents or nine percent of total 225,950 elderly residents in East Jakarta have been vaccinated from Monday (3/1) to Tuesday (3/9)," he informed, Wednesday (3/10).

According to him, not all elderly people could be vaccinated. From those who came to vaccination site, about 10 percent elderly in each vaccination sites couldn't be vaccinated due to comorbidity, such as high blood sugar, hypertension, and others.

"Vaccination for elderly with comorbidity should be postponed because it must be treated first. We urge them to treat it at health center. After their condition is better or returning to normal, they can be vaccinated," he explained.
