41 Illegal Buildings in Menteng Demolished

Joint personnel of Satpol PP, Cleanliness Department, army and police tore down 41 illegal buildings stood atop Jalan Kimia, Pegangsaan Urban Village, Menteng, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (11/12). Demolition is done to smoothen drain normalization and sidewalk arrangement in such area.

Those illegal buildings are used as a business place, such as food and beverage stall, workshop, etc. Although socialization was already done, the owners remain ignored it. In addition, there was also an announcement board that prohibits locals to build a building in forbidden area.

Head of Menteng Sub-District, Bondan Dyah Ekowati disclosed most buildings were made from wood and triplex.

Monday, Buildings at West Side of Pluit Reservoir Demolished

"Demolition runs smoothly without protest. After this, we will re-arrange the land to be a beautiful place," he stated, Wednesday (11/12).

According to him, the Water Management Public Works Sub-Department will clean up the drain at the site. It aims to anticipate puddle and flood in the rainy season.
