Clean water supply in the capital is still a problem. It can be seen in low-cost flat Muara Baru, North Jakarta. Currently, the water supply in the region is supplied by trucks. Later, water treatment installation will be built in the middle of Pluit Reservoir.
Discussion about water treatment facilities is being held by mayor and Public Works Department
The installation is built resemble an oil refinery. It will be started in 2015 and finished in 2016. It is predicted that the installation is able to produce 50 liter/s of water. So, the water is able to accommodate 4,000 families.
Acting North Jakarta Mayor, Tri Kurniadi, admitted the water supply is still less. In fact, the resident keeps increasing. Another 2 blocks from 4 blocks that are already inhabited by 400 families have been opened.
Flood Hits Kampung Pulo, Again"Those two blocks are prepared for relocation," he said, Thursday (11/13).
Related to this matter, he has made coordination with PD PAM Jaya to drain water to the flat.
Meanwhile, PD PAM Jaya Director, Sri Widayanto Kaderi, admitted the water supply in the city is still 75 percent out of total area, or only 60 percent out of total population by 7 million people. One of areas missed from the supply is Muara Baru, Penjaringan.
"Discussion about water treatment facilities is being held by mayor and Public Works Department," he stated.
According to him, recent installation is unable to accommodate the water needs. It is because the installation only produces 10 liter/s.
"We'll prioritize water supply for 1,400 families who will occupy the flat after the project is done," he uttered.
