Flood Hits Kampung Pulo, Again

Flooding once again hit 1,500 homes in Kampung Pulo, Kampung Melayu, Jatinegara Sub-District, East Jakarta, Thursday (11/13) after heavy rain fell in Jakarta and its surrounding areas yesterday. Whereas, puddle in residential located on Ciliwung Riverbank had receded. 

Water level began to rise at 4 AM. Whereas, water had receded at 1 PM yesterday

The floodwater came at around 4 AM. Until 9.30 AM, water level is still reaching 2 meters. Yet citizens have yet to take refuge and prefer to stay in the attic of the home.

Ahok Claims Flood Handling Preparations This Year Better

Safarudin (40), a citizen of RT 03/03, said flood this time is more severe than yesterday, considering water level reached 2 meters. While yesterday was only about 1.5 meters. But until now, citizens still prefer to stay in their home.

"Water level began to rise at 4 AM. Whereas, water had receded at 1 PM yesterday," he expressed.

As usual, before the flood came, the RT/RW apparatus has warned citizens through mosque's loudspeaker. Thus locals back to evacuate their valuables to the top of the attic. 

Vice Head of Jatinegara Sub-District, Manson Sinaga disclosed flood is coming from Bogor, West Jakarta. "Floods inundate 7 RWs and 47 RTs with 1,508 households or 3,427 people," he reported.

He added, until now, the evacuation has not been enforced because citizens already familiar with flood situation. Even, they remain conduct activities as usual, even though having to ride a rubber boat.
