Starting Today, MRT Updates Its Operating Hours

Starting this Monday (4/19), PT. Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Jakarta (Perseroda) made changes to Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) train operating hours in accordance with Enforcement of Micro-scale Public Activity Restrictions (PPKM Mikro) to reduce the potential for COVID-19 transmission.

On weekdays, headway time is every 5 minutes during peak hours

PT. MRT Jakarta President Director, William Sabandar said, changes in operating hours was implemented to follow up Jakarta Transportation Agency Head's Decree No. 157/2021 about Extending Limitation on Transport Capacity and Operating Hours of Transportation Facilities in the Context of Imposing Micro-scale Public Activity Restrictions (PPKM Mikro).

Starting today, he explained, MRT operates at 05:00-23:00 on weekdays (Monday-Friday) and 06:00-21:00 on weekend (Saturday-Sunday).

"On weekdays, headway time is every 5 minutes during peak hours or 07:00-09:00 and 17:00-19:00, while every 10 minutes during off-peak hours. On weekend and national holidays, train headway time is every 10 minutes," he informed.

Meanwhile for number of passengers per train or carriage is still limited to maximum 70 people.

He urged MRT users to remain disciplined in implementing health protocols in MRT area, by wearing mask, maintain safe distance with other passengers, and wash hands often.

"MRT users are also prohibited from talking in one or two directions while being inside of train and station platform area," he added.

Previously, as of February 11, 2021, MRT operated at 05:00-22:00 on weekdays and 06:00-20:00 on weekend.
