North Jakarta Pusip Holds Virtual Literacy Tour

North Jakarta Library and Archive (Pusip) Sub-agency holds virtual literacy tour on Thursday (4/29).

Because of pandemic, we do this activity virtually through Zoom application

North Jakarta Pusip Sub-agency Head, Mimi Karminingsih stated, this virtual literacy tour was participated by 50 students from SDN Warakas 07 and 50 students from SDN Tugu Utara 09.

"This literacy tour is routinely held every Thursday which participated by elementary students in North Jakarta. Because of pandemic, we do this activity virtually through Zoom application," she explained.

IKRA Program Held in Harapan and Tidung Islands

Through this activity, her side want to introduce libraries managed by North Jakarta Pusip Sub-agency to elementary students in the region.

Before pandemic, literacy tour was carried out by going around libraries managed by North Jakarta Pusip Sub-agency. Then, introducing collection of books at the library, holding storytelling, giving souvenir to participants, and others.

"Today's literacy tour, we introduce North Jakarta Pusip Sub-agency's libraries, then continued with singing and poetry reading performances from each school's student representatives, as well as storytelling session by storytellers from North Jakarta Pusip Sub-agency," she conveyed.

According to her, literacy tour is held to increase elementary student's interest in reading as well as introduce library to them from early age.

"Hopefully it can fulfill children's longing for libraries. Because they are limited to go to library during the pandemic. Besides, we hope it can improve their interest in reading although in pandemic situation," she added.

SDN Tugu Utara 09 Acting Principal (Plt), Titin Yanny said, her side was grateful for the opportunity in participating literacy tour activity.

"Thank God, we got the opportunity to take a part in virtual literacy tour because during the pandemic, we also learn virtually. We hope pandemic to end soon," she closed.
