Monitoring on SPBU will Be Tightened

Jakarta Industry and Energy Department is going to tighten the monitoring on gas filling stations (SPBU) in capital city. This action is taken to prevent cheating action done by SPBU owners related to central government’s plan on subsidized fuel (BBM) price hike.

It is conducted to make the use of subsidized fuel on target and to prevent fuel scarcity in the public because of fuel hoarding and misappropriation

“We’re planning on monitoring hundreds of SPBUs routinely to check the suitability of fuel quota that received from Pertamina and sold to the public, whether it is being misused or not, the SPBU officer sold the fuel by jerrycan or not, et cetera,” uttered Head of Jakarta Industry and Energy Department, M Haris Pindratno, Sunday (11/16).

According to Pindratno, his department will also monitor the use of subsidized fuel by small medium industry (IKM) entrepreneurs.

“It is conducted to make the use of subsidized fuel on target and to prevent fuel scarcity in the public because of fuel hoarding and misappropriation,” he stated.

Together with related department, Pindratno asserted that they will take firm action if an SPBU owner was indicated doing cheating.

“Our task is only to check. If cheating was found, our officers will report it to Jakarta Cooperatives, Micro, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises and Trade (KUMKMP) Department to follow it up by sealing the SPBU,” he said.
