The North Jakarta Parks and Urban Forest Sub-agency is about to temporarily close nine public cemeteries (TPU) in its area on Wednesday (5/12) to Sunday (5/16). It is based on the Governor's Call number 5/2021 on Control of Community Activities in Preventing the Spread of COVID-19 during Eid al-Fitr 1442 Hijri/2021.
Those nine TPUs are Semper, Kampung Mangga, Plumpang, Tegal Kunir, Sungai Bambu, Malaka I, Malaka IV, Jembatan Sampi, and Rorotan
North Jakarta Parks and Urban Forest Sub-agency Head, Elly Sugestianingsih said it was done to prevent crowds that could potentially cause the spread of COVID-19.
"Those nine TPUs are Semper, Kampung Mangga, Plumpang, Tegal Kunir, Sungai Bambu, Malaka I, Malaka IV, Jembatan Sampi, and Rorotan," she expressed, Tuesday (5/11).
124 Grave Plots in TPU Rorotan Have Been Used for COVID-19 PatientsDespite they were closed, she explained, the funeral service would remain open and run as usual. The picket system would be applied to ASN and PJLP in a number of TPUs to serve the needs of the community.
"They will remain alert to anticipate if there are residents who want to propose the funeral documents during the Eid holiday," she stressed.
She hoped that the community could comply with and understand the temporary closure policy of TPU from the pilgrimage activities.
She also urged them to always comply with 5M health protocols, namely wearing a mask, washing hands with soap and running water, maintaining social distancing, avoiding crowds and limiting mobility.
"Hopefully the pandemic can end quickly and community activities can return to normal. Participation from all to always be disciplined towards the COVID-19 health protocol is expected," s
he hoped.
