Gubernur Anies Apresiasi Pengelola Masjid Istiqlal Tidak Fasilitasi Ibadah Salat Idulfitri Untuk Umu

Governor Appreciates Istiqlal for Not Facilitating Eid Prayers

As reported earlier, the Istiqlal Mosque would not hold congregational prayers for the upcoming Eid al-Fitr this year amid the COVID-19 pandemic. It gets an appreciation from Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan considering previously all Greater Jakarta-Cianjur Regional heads agreed to encourage Eid prayer at home or in the yard. Even if both are not possible, it can be implemented at the local mosque by implementing health protocols.

This is an example for other mosques, our recommendation is for the community to pray at the mosque around their house

"This is an example for other mosques, our recommendation is for the community to pray at the mosque around their house," expressed Governor, at Gazebo of Jakarta City Hall, Tuesday (5/11), as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release.

He assessed if the prayer was held, it would trigger a crowd, as the location was in office areas and public facilities.

Ramadan, Anies Advises Mosque Caretakers to Comply with Health Protocols

"We prioritize residents praying Eid near their homes, in their villages. So, don't travel, the grand mosques are also expected not to hold Eid prayers massively, which has the potential for infection" he asserted.
