The Jakarta's 494 anniversary is getting close, moreover this year is the second time that will be held amid the Covid-19 pandemic. This time, it will carry the spirit and optimism of awakening in various aspects, marked by the formation of collective immunity through vaccinations and infections, that is why Jakarta Bangkit (Jakarta Awakening) was chosen as the theme for the city's anniversary.
Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan ceremonially opened and inaugurated the declaration of the city's 494th anniversary at the Jakarta City Hall, on Monday (5/24). On that occasion, he explained how Jakarta had gone through a year fighting a pandemic in which all aspects of Jakarta had contracted due to limited interactions.
"Last year we were in a period of relatively new tests and challenges, as this is the first time we are dealing with an epidemic, so last year's theme was Jakarta Tangguh (Jakarta is Tough), which had had a major effect on our economy, social and culture," he expressed, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release.
In that theme, he explained, there was enthusiasm and optimism, he even hoped that the rise of Jakarta would be even better than before Jakarta faced the pandemic.
"We imagine this year as the year that has begun to rise, which is marked by the onset of economic, social and cultural activities. Through collective immunity through vaccinations and infections, Jakarta will rise and Jakarta tom orrow will be better than before the pandemic," he asserted.
At the same time, he reiterated the commitment that had been carried out by the Jakarta Provincial Government which placed Jakarta as a City of Collaboration where residents were actively involved in city development.
"The city chooses to see the development of Jakarta as an opportunity for all to take part. So, this is not monopolized by the government, but we invite all to get involved. Why? Because, no city in Indonesia has as many resources as Jakarta, such as NGOs, entrepreneurs, observers, analysts, content creators, and international institutions," he explained.
"This is a new mindset in Jakarta, but this is not new for Indonesia, as this nation was built with a spirit of mutual cooperation," he continued.
To enliven the anniversary, the logo chosen has a philosophy that describes the Jakartans' hopes and dreams to rise up. Aside that, there is an element of identity Plus Jakarta that shows Jakarta as a City of Collaboration.
