Marine Ecosystem in Thousand Islands Continues to Be Preserved

Thousand Islands Maritime, Agriculture, and Food Security (KPKP) Agency is committed to continue preserving marine ecosystem in Thousand Islands.

We must take concrete actions to preserve ecosystem

Thousand Islands KPKP Sub-agency Head, Devi Lidya encouraged all residents and stakeholders to strengthen collaboration in preserving marine ecosystem in Thousand Islands waters.

"We must take concrete actions to preserve ecosystem in commemorating World Ocean Day 2021 and World Coral Triangle Day which are held every June 8 and 9," she conveyed, Wednesday (6/9).

Marine ecosystem, she assessed, could be maintained if people don't littering, protect their environment by planting mangroves and coral reef, and maintain balance of nature with marine cultivation (fish and seaweed).

“We have to manage marine ecosystems sustainably," she mentioned.

Cleanliness of water in Thousand Islands is maintained since it can be seen from increasing number of dolphins that often appear in waters between Karya Island and Panggang Island, North Thousand Island Sub-district.

"Coinciding with world ocean day, 30 bottlenose dolphins appeared on the water surface. It indicates that our waters are getting cleaner and more comfortable for marine animals," she closed.
