Fish Consumption Remains Low

In order to commemorating the 2014 National Fish Day, South Jakarta Administration invited citizen and student to gain the fish consumption. It is because the fish consumption level per year remains low.

The consumption level in Jakarta last year was 33.23 kg, while the national target is 38 kg

"We should consume 35 gram of protein in a day, which 16 gram of it is taken from fish or meat. The consumption level in Jakarta last year was 33.23 kg, while the national target is 38 kg," said South Jakarta Mayor, Syamsuddin Noor, Wednesday (11/19).

Meanwhile, Noor continued, the target of animal protein from livestock is 7 kg per capita per year. In the city, it is still 4.2 kg. "It is important for us inviting the citizen gain their nutrition for better human resource," he continued.

Opak River Needs to Be Dredged

According to him, the importance of animal protein knowledge should be given in early age to fulfill the consumption target. "Mother has big role for this. It means, guidance must be given to mother and student," he added.

Based on Statistic Center Agency (BPS) data, 57 percent of animal protein consumption in Indonesia is taken from fish. Besides, fish has biggest omega 3 nutrition among other animals.
