KPKP Agency will Hold Various Activities to Commemorate World Rabies Day

Jakarta Maritime Agriculture and Food Security (KPKP) Agency collaborates with related stakeholders to hold series of activities in commemorating World Rabies Day 2021.

The peak event will be held in September 2021 at Taman Impian Jaya Ancol

Those activities are vaccination, spaying and neutering pets in all regions of Jakarta; rabies vaccination activity through collaboration with Jakarta PDHI and veterinarians; spaying and neutering for cats through collaboration with animal lover community and veterinarians.

Next, communication, information and education (KIE) for students and general public; adopting pets from private shelters and shelters under Animal Health Service Center from September 1-30, 2021; animal health service (drive-thru) on September 28, 2021.

Jakarta KPKP Agency Head, Suharini Eliawati conveyed, this year's theme for World Rabies Day in Jakarta is "Let the Facts Speak, Until Fear Disappears" which is focused on sharing facts about rabies and not spreading fear of the disease by relying on myths and wrong information.

"COVID-19 pandemic has raised a lot of doubts and misunderstandings about the disease, its spread, and vaccination in general. We are here to educate people thus they don't get carried away by disinformation," she asserted, Monday (8/30).

Her side wants activities in commemorating World Rabies Day to provide better animal health services and educate people to always care about animals around them and be aware of rabies.

"The peak event will be held in September 2021 at Taman Impian Jaya Ancol, starting from street feeding with elementary school students, symbolic animal handover for adoption, and others. All activities are ensured to run with strict health protocols," she mentioned.
