garding implementation of new water tariff for customers in Thousand Islands referring to Governor's Regulation (Pergub) No. 57/2021 which issued on August 2, 2021."Socialization has been carried out on August 30 and 31 at Harapan Island Urban Village Office's Hall, Kelapa Island and Tidung Island Urban Village Office," he explained, Wednesday (9/1).

Water tariff in Thousand Islands is included in special tariff group where according to Pergub no. 34/2018, residents are given tariff of Rp 25,000 per m3 for the use of 0-3 m3, while for household group is Rp 32,000 per m3, and the highest is Rp 35,000 per m3.
According to Pergub No. 57/2021, tariff for the use of 0-3 m3 is changed and equalized with minimum usage tariff in Jakarta, namely Rp 1,050 per m3 and the highest tariff, in this case for commercial activity, is Rp 12,550 per m3.
"Referring to Pergub 57/2021, tariff for household category for the use of 0-3 m3 is changed from Rp 32,000 per m3 to Rp 3,550 per m3. It decreases by Rp 28,450 per m3 for minimum basic needs," he explained.
According to him, new tariff policy is one of his efforts to provide equal drinking water service both on the mainland of Jakarta and Thousand Islands as a part of Jakarta Government's alignment with government's mandate to guarantee people's right to water in order to fulfill their basic needs, at least on daily basis.
"We are making tariff adjustments as regulated through Pergub 57/2021 which provides the same and equal prices for Jakarta residents in fulfilling minimum basic needs," he mentioned.
The new tariff policy, he added, will be applied by PAM Jaya for water use in August and will be billed in September 2021.
"In the end, this new tariff will improve people's welfare as well as to preserve the environment," he closed.
