We cannot control the street vendors because there are no personnel who are currently undergoing an activity at the city level

Based on beritajakarta.com observations, tens of street vendors selling clothes, fruits, and even household furniture set up stalls on the left side of the road. There is no effort from the urban village and sub-district apparatuses to control those street vendors. On the other hand, a Satpol PP’s operational vehicle was seen in the location, surrounded by the street vendors’ carts.

Munaji (52), one of the street vendors, admitted have traded in that location for quite a long time. He said the place is strategic because he and other street vendors do not need to spend money to rent stalls inside the market.

Responding on this matter, Head of Cempaka Putih Sub-District, Lilik Yuli Handayani, stated that until now there is no raid done against the street vendors along Jalan Rawasari Selatan. This is because the personnel of Cempaka Putih Sub-District Satpol PP are currently not in the location.

“We cannot control the street vendors because there are no personnel who are currently undergoing an activity at the city level. As far as I know, there is no charge applied to those street vendors. Street vendors always say like that,” she uttered.
